Hi Volvo Fans. Found the link to the site in the Quokka. Smart thinking whoever did that. Searching google didn't get me here.
Anyway, my other-half's Dad is selling his 1981 244 GL, as they just got a 2003 Toyota this week.
He's the second owner from new. Bought it in the 80's and since then its always been garaged and covered with a car cover when not in use. Paint looks new. Doesn't look like a 17 year old car. Seldom driven for the last 5 years, just once a month to keep everything in working order, as it was their second car (their daily car was an older Camry).
Recently (well a year or two ago) I replaced the brake booster for them as the old one wasn't holding a vacuum anymore.
I believe its an Auto. I'll post some more details and some photos after the weekend, as I'll be up at their house on the weekend.
He was offered $2500 for it about 6 months ago, is that about right?
I don't know much about Volvos, old Datsuns are my obsession.
Edit: Car is now in the quokka for $2000.

Nice tidy looking 244, could try for $3,000 or so; though it can be a bit difficult to get a fair price as not everyone appreciates the Volvo brand, nor knows of its performance, durability and long life.
I'd be interested myself except I already have an '81 244 auto, got it 8 years ago from the 3rd owner for $2600 - it had been garaged most of it's life, but not all; paint now has very little clear left, but I keep it waxed and clean; couple of small dings (not me), and a spot of rust at top of rear screen. Been reliable as anything; added 120,000 kms over 6 years with under $3000 spent in repairs, now has 250,000+ on it (unfortunately it has been outside for the past 2 years).
I'm looking to sell my 740 and get preferably a 960 wagon (I prefer RWD), or an 850 wagon as my main drive, but will keep the 244 as backup cause it's so damn reliable.
