I've been thinking about getting some rear window stickers for wavolvozone.com printed, but would like to know if members want them before I spend the dollars.

Volvos driving around with 'wavolvozone.com' rear window stickers should improve the public profile and attract more members, so what do you think?

And should it just be 'wavolvozone.com' or is the www. needed in front of it?

Please vote in the Poll so the group has a visual of members opinions; you may also discuss this in the forum by replying to this post.

i think that stickers are a great thing to bring the site to the attention of people but feel that you should keep your money in your pocket till more people start to use the site.

yep wobblywombat, I'd like to keep the money in my pocket, but it's a bit of a catch 22 situation; to get more people using the site, people need to know it exists; to let them know it exists, it needs promoting.

At present I've run several adverts in the Quokka, but they cost $$ as well - to place a notice with a web address in the Quokka, they classify it as a business advert and hence charge for it (that's their policy) - I can put free adverts in for vehicles, but not with web addresses; same goes for the other newspapers.

So I figure that rear window stickers may be a better, and long term cheaper, option in promoting the site to other Volvo drivers.

Response to the poll has been pretty low, but so far it seems that the preferred sticker would have the address as 'www.wavolvozone.com'

also need some suggestions on the design of it; I was thinking white lettering on clear background, with maybe a line under the address saying 'WA Volvo Owners' or similar.

You should get in touch with the WA Volvo club and get them using the website.

Thanks wobblywombat & mr camouflage

yep, pretty disappointing response, but not unexpected; you get that from people in general on all sorts of issues - twas only a thought on boosting profile and numbers, so thought I'd float the idea.

I spoke to the holder of the club's association registration at beginning of the year; the club has been largely inactive for a while, though they still get occasional enquires from people. Apparently it was left to a few people to run and organise everything, which is typical of non-profit groups, and after a while it simply slipped into disuse as such.

As I had no interest in taking on the running of an incorporated association with all it's monthly meetings, minutes, presidents, secretaries, treasurers etc etc (been that road before with another non-profit, and never ever again - too much work, too many ego's and attitudes); so I thought something non-formal like an online forum - people can make what they want of it, without all the complications of a formal association.

I'm happy enough to host the wavolvozone.com domain etc and set it up as a functional forum, but activity comes down to the members and what they want to do or organise - As with all things, the site will take time to 'find its feet'.
